Review of 2007
2007 was a busy year for Vanishing Point. During the course of the year we created three new shows and began the development of a fourth. In May Vanishing Point presented David Leddy’s Home Hindrance, a site-specific theatre piece and web-based film, performed in a flat at the top of a Glasgow tower block. This was followed by the awarding-winning Subway, a musical adventure set in 2032 Edinburgh. Subway premiered at the Edinburgh Festival and toured to the Lemon Tree in Aberdeen, Tron in Glasgow, before transferring to the Lyric Hammersmith in London. We were pleased that Subway was one of the hit shows of 2007.
In September and October Vanishing Point collaborated with the final year BA Acting and Technical and Production Arts students at RSAMD to create Hidden, two interconnecting plays, which took place concurrently in the New Athenaeum Theatre and the Chandler Studio. Hidden was presented as a labyrinth of stories centering round a hostage situation.
Vanishing Point ended the year by spending a week exploring ideas for our new show Little Otik, a co-production with the National Theatre of Scotland, which will premiere in May 2008. |
