Learning and Opportunities
Learning Points is Vanishing Point’s creative learning and artist development programme. There are opportunities for professional artists and those in training, for audiences who are interested in exploring our work in more depth and for young people who are passionate about theatre and performance.
Do you have an idea or a project that you need some help with? If you are looking for advice or guidance about making or producing theatre, our experienced core team can help. To book an informal session, please contact: firstname.lastname@example.org
In 2019, Vanishing Point launched New Directions, an initiative that will provide training, employment and opportunities for an emerging director based in Scotland. New Directions is an ideal opportunity for emerging directors who would like to gain experience of working on a professional production process and who are interested in Vanishing Point’s unique creative process. Details of future opportunities will be announced here and on our social media pages.
We offer one supported artist opportunity per year which coincides with the creation of our main production. The Supported Artist role is a paid position, designed for the individual - we aim to offer an insight into all the various aspects of the company, including the work created in the rehearsal room and in the office. Our next Supported Artist position will be available in 2020/21.
In 2019, Vanishing Point began working in partnership with the Scottish Drama Training Network (https://sdtn.org/) to offer a number of placement opportunities and learning events for production students attending education institutions within the network. The placements and learning events coincide with our main production and cover subjects including; costume design, lighting design, stage design and production management.
Industry-Based Learning: Producer (2021)
Vanishing Point & the Scottish Drama Training Network have created an opportunity for a student or recent graduate to gain an insight into the process of producing a Vanishing Point show through a bespoke learning programme. The learning programme involves a series of one-to-one meetings with Vanishing Point’s Administrative Producer; meetings with production staff and members of the creative team and some practical experience. This opportunity will provide an emerging producer with an opportunity to gain insight into the operations of prominent, international theatre company and to begin building their own network of professional contacts.
