Matthew founded Vanishing Point theatre company in 1999 and has directed all of the company’s productions. He has also directed for National Theatre of Scotland and numerous other theatres. Recent work outside Vanishing Point includes the development of Journeyman, a new show at the National Theatre Studio in London and Boy, his first film (for Channel 4 and Touchpaper Television). Matthew was honoured to be chosen as the first UK director to lead the École des Maîtres, a pan-European project. Recently Matthew has worked at the Rustavelli Theatre in Tblisi, Georgia and has worked regularly at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, developing projects with acting students and directing The Visit by Freidrich Durrenmatt and Roberto Zucco by Bernard Marie Koltes.
Severine has worked with Vanishing Point since October 2002. She has managed all Vanishing Point’s work since 2002 including recent large-scale co-production of The Beggar’s Opera, the international collaboration and tour of Interiors as part of the Napoli Teatro Festival Italia earlier this year and Lost Ones to Kosovo, Macedonia and Sri Lanka 2006. Severine set up Space 11 in 2004 and has managed it since.
Eleanor graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2007 with a Master of Arts Degree in Theatre Studies. She then worked as Project Coordinator for The Space: Dundee College coordinating a multi-arts project for young people, working with companies such as Scottish Dance Theatre, Dundee Rep Theatre and Dundee Contemporary Arts. Eleanor joined Vanishing Point in October 2008 as Operations Officer.
Sandy trained under David WW Johnstone (Lazzi) and Zofia Kalinska (Ariel Teatr). Previous shows with Vanishing Point include Little Otik (a co- production with National Theatre of Scotland); Subway; Invisible Man and Stars Beneath the Sea. Numerous stage credits include The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe; The Wizard of Oz (both Royal Lyceum); Monsters (Arcola); Cherry Blossom (Traverse Theatre) and Fergus Lamont (Comminicado/Perth Theatre – winner of 2006 CATS Award for Best Male Performance). Television credits include Legit (Comedy Unit) and numerous radio credits include Mclevy: A Bolt from the Blue; Blaze and Vanishing Point (BBC Radio 4). Sandy has also appeared in the film Night People (Mead Kerr Ltd).
Kai trained at Glasgow University and at HDM Stuttgart, from where he graduated with a degree in Audio-Visual Media Design. He is one of the Artistic Associates of Vanishing Point. Kai’s most recent designs for the company include Interiors, The Beggar’s Opera, Subway, Little Otik and Lost Ones.
Design work for other companies includes the set and lighting designs for Wondrous Flittings (Royal Lyceum Edinburgh), Somersaults, Home Caithness, Mancup, Allotment 3 and Allotment 4 (The National Theatre of Scotland), Re:Union (7:84 Scotland), Fewer Emergencies (Ankur), Heer Ranjha (Ankur and Tramway Glasgow), as well as One Night Stand for Nick Underwood.
Kai’s Lighting Design credits include productions for the Citizens Theatre Glasgow, Dundee Rep, Dogstar, Lung Ha’s, MacRobert Stirling, Perth Theatre, RSAMD and York Theatre Royal, Richard B. Fisher Center in Annandale on Hudson NY, Royal Lyceum Edinburgh, SweetScar, TAG, Take Two Productions, Theatre Babel, Traverse Theatre Edinburgh, Tron Theatre Glasgow and Young Vic London.
He is currently developing his own project, Entartet, in association with Vanishing Point and CCA Glasgow.
